Hulk Hogan with Hulkster Hug!
Hasbro WWF Action Figures-Series 2, 1991
Before the featured WWF/toy star, a background first regarding the toyline from various websites: Hasbro’s WWF action figures were based on the superstars of the World Wrestling Federation, now known as WWE. Hasbro made them from 1990-1994. The toys were made of plastic and each superstar had a signature action move. Most of the moves were repeated in multiple figures. Critics of the line complain that the figures were too "cartoonish." I submit, on the other hand, the opinion that they are not cartoonish in any way as can be seen in the following photos. That being said, here is the featured action figure today.
Yes, the featured WWF Superstar today is the face of the WWF in the 80's and early-90's: Hulk Hogan. Anyone who knows wrestling definitely knows the Hulkster, especially his "demandments:" training, saying prayers, and eating vitamins.
Hogan's action figure is clad with his characteristic yellow-and-red color scheme. The figure is detailed and really resembles the face of Hogan as can be seen from the closeup photo and the detailed logo of Hulk Hogan that can be seen from Hogan's shirt.
What is emphasized in this action figure is Hogan's 24-inch pythons (arms) in order to execute his "Hulkster Hug" superstar-action move.
Although the action figure resembles Hogan and highly-detailed, the downside of it is that it is not fully-poseable like GI Joe and other action figures. Consequently, it would be impossible to execute the wrestling moves and finishing maneuvers of WWF Superstars. To illustrate, Hogan cannot do a legdrop because you cannot bend his legs. However, all in all, this a nice figure to have. The details and the sculture of Hogan far outweighs the sole downside of the action figure. Nonetheless, this is a must have in any WWF Superstars collection, simply because it is Hogan's.
